From the Sketchbook – Roller Skating Robot Terror

Roller Skating Robot

Sketch Name: Roller Skating Robot Terror

Thoughts While Sketching: I have been doing a lot of "clean line sketches" as of late, hence the reason I decide to go ahead and colorize them. This guy reminds me of a robot you might see on The Jetsons gone hay-wire. In fact, his eyes even somewhat resemble those of Rosie the robot maid. Who knows what his intentions are other than he is heading this way . . . and heading there fast!

Logo Design for Footprints of the Mind, LLC

Footprints of the Mind Logo Final

Client: Footprints of the Mind, LLC (Irene Antonoglu)

Project Details: The client, whom I have done illustrative work for in the past, expressed interest in having a logo designed for her business, Footprints of the Mind, LLC. I had the client fill out a questionnaire, and learned that the business targets parents that want something more for their kids and understand that young children are capable of critical thinking skills even when they cannot read or fully articulate their thoughts. Irene also stated that part of Footprints of the Mind's mission is to help create a safe place on the internet for little children. The client hoped for the final logo to evoke feelings of playfulness and professionalism.

Photography – Baby Mockingbirds Out of the Nest

Baby Mockingbird in Winchester Virginia 1

Photo Shoot Location: Winchester, Virginia

Photo Shoot Date: June 30, 2009

Photo Shoot Details: Birds have a tendency to build nests in the most unusual of places around my home. Last year I found a robin's nest under the hood of my mini-van, with three healthy baby birds! My wife cared for them and they were ultimately given to a wildlife rescue facility in the area. This year, a mockingbird has decided to make a nest in a bush right next to the fenced-in section of my yard.

From the Sketchbook – Frog and Laughing Fly

Frog and Laughing Fly

Sketch Name: Frog and Laughing Fly

Thoughts While Sketching: Do you ever feel like you have a lot to do and would rather be elsewhere getting it done than stuck in the middle of a group socializing? That is how I felt when I sketched this quick cartoon. The drawing was done with a clean felt-tip black marker, so I decided to quickly colorize it for fun.

From the Sketchbook – Faceless Dynamite Guy

faceless dynamite guy cartoon sketch

Sketch Name: Faceless Dynamite Guy

Where and When: Sketched during a meeting

Thoughts While Sketching: I'm not really sure what to say about this one. This is a cartoon / sketch that I fleshed out during a meeting. As far as I can tell it is some faceless character about to stick a lit piece of dynamite into a toxic container. Perhaps I wasn't keen on the idea being discussed during the meeting and this is my brain's way of communicating that visually.
