Publication Design – Student Success Stories Direct Mail Piece
By Aaron Riddle on Apr 8, 2009 in Portfolio - Graphic Design
Client: A Community College in Northern Virginia
Project Details: This is an 11×17″, full color direct mail piece that I designed for my full-time employer (a community college in Northern Virginia). The mailer was created to promote the College’s campus in Warrenton, Virginia and features various profiles of students that attended this particular campus.
I gave most of the photographs within the publication the “polariod” treatment to help make the piece more intimate with the reader. The mailer is unique in that there is no obvious strong call to action towards the reader. Its only goal was to create awareness of the College’s Warrenton, Virginia campus to long-time (and new) residents of the area.
The final specifications of the publication follow:
- Quantity: 50,000 printed and mailed
- Size: 11 x 17”, folds to 8.5 x 11”, folds to 8.5 x 5.5”
- Stock: 100# gloss cover text white
- Ink: 4/4 (cmyk / cmyk), no bleeds
- Varnish: Aqueous coating
- Collected Adobe InDesign CS3 files, fonts and images sent via FTP
Final PDF File: Student Success Direct Mail Piece (1.3MB) ![]()
Final Thoughts: The piece was well liked by the College community and I received a good deal of positive feedback. The printer did a very nice job as well helping to make the final product a winner.
