So today my newest piece of equipment arrived…a fisheye lens! While not practical for every type of situation, fisheyes sure do create some neat effects and angles giving my creative juices another aspect of photography to consider when on a photo shoot.

Location and Date: Winchester, VA – February 2011

The Details: With a wedding to shoot this Saturday, I decided to take a couple photographs with a few of the lenses I have to give them a “warm up” after going through the typically slow month of January. Ordinary subject matter…a hermit crab and a “kid” (my daughter), but something I thought I would share regardless. Note: If you look at the enlarged image of her eye, you can see me taking her picture!

The Details: My two girls (4 and 2) have been involved with The Little Gym since they were little. It has really helped them enhance their motor and social skills with other kids their age. This week was “show week” where they get to show us parents everything they have practiced this past semester. Everyone got a medal, and Daddy was there with the camera of course.

The Details: My Dad turned 60 this year on New Year’s Eve, so my wife and daughters threw him a little party with tons of food. My kids call him “Pop” so we called it a “Pop Party” haha. Naturally I was there with the camera…

The Details: This year’s family vacation to Myrtle Beach included a trip to the Krispy Kreme Doughnut shop to see fresh donuts being made, a visit to Ripley’s Aquarium and of course, plenty of time on the beach enjoying the sun and surf! Of course I brought my camera along as well…

The Details: My oldest daughter turned four years old this past week and we threw her a family birthday party over the weekend. She loves princesses, ponies and dinosaurs, but when we asked her what type of birthday cake she wanted she said “a train!”. My wife, being the super creative woman that she is, created a tasty train cake and even found various train-themed party decorations (including a pink conductor’s hat and train piñata) for the party. Both of my kids had a great time, while I spent most of the day thinking to myself “they grow up so fast!”

Photo Session Details: This past weekend my wife and I threw a little family birthday party for my two-year old daughter. Naturally there was cake (home-made by my wife of course), decorations, food (hedgehog watermelon!) and presents. However, the “hit” of the party was my brother’s dog, Butters. Visiting from north of Baltimore, my brother and his girlfriend brought their dog along and my children absolutely loved her. I know that any day now I will probably begin to hear the words “Daddy I want a dog”. Maybe in 10 years….

Photo Session Details: Now that my girls are getting older (23 months and 3.5 yrs), I am beginning to have a lot of fun re-igniting holiday traditions I once did as a child. My wife and I planned a little easter egg hunt for them in our backyard on Easter eve. We filled some plastic eggs with small goodies (toys, treats, money) and hid them around a fenced section of our yard for the girls to find. Once I let them loose out the porch door there was no stopping them! Of course we had to make sure the 3 yr old didn’t find all the eggs, but the younger one held her own. The next day we traveled to Linthicum, MD where my mother held another small egg hunt for them (along with their second-cousin Joe…the youngest of the group). The kids had a lot of fun, and naturally went into a sugar coma during the drive home after having snacked on their goodies for most of the day.
