My name is Aaron Riddle and I am a professional photographer residing in Winchester, Virginia. I specialize in wedding photography, portrait photography and special event photography needs.

I tell stories through my photography by capturing candid moments and preserving them in time to show the beauty of a wedding, the happiness of an event or intimacy of a kiss shared by a newly-engaged couple.

D is for Dog - Kira Belle Prancer. Devil Dog. Stinkibus. All playful names I have given to this black speed demon of a canine. A highly energetic breed of dog (Schipperke), Kira once lived with us until my parents took her in (long story short she didn’t do too well around little crawling babies and was highly over protective). Since that time, Kira has become a great dog around children. She now enjoys living it up near the Chesapeake Bay running through fields and swimming in the Magothy River. She is one of the most hyper dogs you will ever meet, but also one of the most loyal and protective.

Photo Session Date: November 21, 2009

Photo Session Location: Winchester, VA

Photo Session Details: My wife breeds hedgehogs. Once people find that out it usually becomes the primary topic of conversation. Apparently hedgehogs are in high demand in the Northern Virginia area, which I am completely fine with as it translates to sales for my wife’s business. Her waiting list is 80 some people long, so if you are interested you might have quite a wait. My wife tends to make good use of my profession, having me design her logo, develop her Web site and now take photographs of her featuring one of her hedgies (a term the breeders use…I didn’t spontaneously make that up). I’m always happy to help her out as she makes me fantastic home cooked meals, deals with my schedule as a photographer and tolerates my ranting designer personality.

C is for Church- I live very close to a small country church. The church is so small and inconspicuous that it is barely noticeable when driving by on the road. Living near this church for four years, this was the first time I took time to photograph it. The resulting photos portray the church as desolate, isolated and abandoned…an interesting stark contrast to Sunday mornings when it comes alive with cheerful parishioners celebrating the Sabbath.

Sketch Name: Twitter Bird with Coffee

Thoughts While Sketching: Apparently bloggers seemed to have fallen in love with a twitter bird cartoon I illustrated earlier this year. Due to the popularity of this characterized twitter bird, I thought I would sketch up another. This one features a more laid-back twitter bird, perhaps an employee of a media agency or public relations office, enjoying his morning coffee before starting on some early morning tweets.

Photo Session Date: November 7, 2009

Photo Session Location: Ocean City, MD

Photo Session Details: I have learned that walking the beach during any time of year can lead to some great photographic opportunities. Quite often it has to do with being in the right place at the right time. As my family arrived at the beach for an evening walk on a cold November afternoon, two fishermen hauled in a very big rockfish (or striped bass). As I walked towards them, they beckoned to me and asked if I would take their photograph. As that was my intention in the first place, I spent sometime photographing their “catch of the day” and gave them my business card asking them to e-mail me so I could give them copies of the photos. Sure enough, this morning they e-mailed me and I sent them high-resolution copies of the photographs. All of us were grateful . . . I for being able to add the photos to my portfolio and they for having someone to capture their adventure on film.
