My name is Aaron Riddle and I am a professional photographer residing in Winchester, Virginia. I specialize in wedding photography, portrait photography and special event photography needs.
As a wedding photographer my style is unobtrusive, friendly photojournalism. I capture the spontaneous smiles, people living in the moment and details of your day as they naturally unfold. Your job is to relax and enjoy your wedding! My job is to document it for you to relive forever.
The Details: Mark and Julie are not from around Winchester, but when we were brainstorming locations to hold their engagement shoot they fell in love with the scenic gardens at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. I have photographed weddings there before, but this was my first engagement session there. Wow, was it fun! The gardens are so vast and beautiful that I could have spent the whole day there with this fantastic couple taking photographs. While there is a nominal fee to use the gardens, the results make it so worth it.
Testimonial: “I can’t thank you enough for the beautiful pictures. I’ve been thinking about them all day!” – Julie Q.
The Details: Mark and Terumi’s marriage was, as the best man said, 30 years in the making. Being life-long friends, they both decided to finally tie the knot in October at the quaint Kings Contrivance fine dining restaurant in Columbia, MD. Highlights included a bridal limo arrival, a modern-day minister with a iPad to wed the couple and a smooth jazz band providing background music into the night!
Testimonial: “Aaron, you did a marvelous job. We would recommend you to anyone for any occassion! Thank you so much!” – Mark and Terumi
Location and Date: Jim Barnett Park, Winchester, VA – October 2010
The Details: I met Tom at one of the first weddings I photographed. Since that time, we floated the idea around that I should do portrait shoot of his family someday. Well that day arrived a few days ago in October! The results are below.
Testimonial: “Great work! Aaron is very professional and has a keen eye for pretty backgrounds and naturalistic style poses. We love all of our pictures! Thank you so much, Aaron!” – Tom and Tammy Anderson
The Details: Dale and Stacy (view their engagement session) LOVE the Maryland Renaissance Festival. In fact, that is where they first met. For those of you that don’t know, the “RennFest” is a festival held every autumn close to Annapolis, MD where the atmosphere of the Medieval era comes to life. You can grab a hunk of meat, a goblet of mead, watch a jousting tournament and visit dozens of shops and inns. The best part is that visitors are encouraged to wear clothing indicative of the medieval time period. Dale and Stacy combined the energy of RennFest with Scottish tradition to create a once in a lifetime wedding celebration. I am honored to have been a part of it, and I was even able to meet the King!
Testimonial: “Aaron, we love the photos! Love love love!” – Dale and Stacy
For Blog Action Day 2010, the theme is water. Rather than write a post of how important clean water is to our planet, environment and civilization, I chose to compile some of my best photographs made possible by water. Hopefully this will inspire some to help keep our oceans, rivers and lakes clean.
Location and Date: September 2010, Fredericksburg, VA
The Details: Ya and Sarah scheduled their engagement session with me a few months ago. When the date arrived, the weather report was calling for heavy rain with a possible tropical downpour. I asked Sarah that morning if she wanted to proceed with the shoot (I always give my clients the option of rescheduling due to weather). Sarah and Ya decided they wanted to keep the engagement session as scheduled since the rain would make for some “awesome” photos. I’m so glad they did, and the photos show why.
Testimonial: “I love the pictures. They are so awesome and I have gotten so many compliments.” – Sarah
The Details: I had the opportunity to take a few promotional portrait photographs for a newly-established Virginia community college police department. The officer was even so kind as to let me ride in the front seat of his cruiser, though I regret not asking if I could press the siren button.
The Details: Mike and Annie (view their engagement session) were married at a local farm in Boyce, Virginia. The farm is not usually used for wedding venues, but the owner is a friend of the family so he welcomed the couple to hold their ceremony and reception on his property. If you like old farmhouses, fields, abandonded country roads and a rustic setting then this wedding would be right up your alley. Not to mention live music from a local Motown band and some of the best BBQ I have ever eaten in my life (courtesy of Mr. B’s Barbeque). Congratulations to Mike and Annie!
Testimonial: “To quote my father, ‘This is not photography, this is art.’ Aaron is also good at directing people. I don’t know how he managed to get so many good pictures of my son, but he did (he’s looking at the camera and smiling…or at least not crying). The engagement photos were awesome and a great idea. I think it helped to make the wedding pictures even beter. Aaron is also very quick at getting the pictures finished and accessible.” – Annie Mankin
