The Date: September 12, 2010
The Location: Khimaira Farm, Luray, Virginia
The Details: A few weeks ago I traveled to Luray, Virginia to photograph Brad and Megan’s wedding at Khimaira Farm (a working dairy goat farm just outside of the town of Luray). Once I managed to befriend the giant great pyranese dogs that greeted me upon my arrival, I was astounded at the venue. The farm sits just next to a large mountain range and every direction I looked there was breathtaking scenery. Combine that with an awesome couple, a cozy reception venue and some jokester groomsmen (my kind of guys),I knew that I would have a blast photographing this wedding…and I did.
Testimonial: “If you’re looking for a well-organized, professional photographer, go for Aaron Riddle. When planning a wedding or other event, the least you want to worry about is whether or not your vendors will respond in a timely manner or provide the quality that you desire. Aaron surpassed all of our expectations in so many ways. The product return was so quick, we hadn’t even come back from our honeymoon! Thank you, Aaron, for a wonderful experience.” – Megan Schargorodski

The Date: September 11, 2010
The Location: The Briar Patch Bed and Breakfast, Middleburg, VA
The Details: Brian and Tiffany were married at the Briar Patch Bed and Breakfast, a small cozy venue nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains near the Shenandoah Valley. I will always remember this wedding for two things (aside from the fact it was filled with a fantastic couple with great family and friends). One is the beautiful evening sunlight that covered the landscape during the ceremony and photo sessions with the bridal party. Two is the huge garden spider that had made a web outside of the reception venue that attracted all of the guests’ attention (the bride said it was a sign since her bowling nickname is the black widow!).

The Date: September 17, 2010
The Location: Manassas National Battlefield Park, Manassas, Virginia
The Details: Mark and Miranda are getting married a few days after Thanksgiving. They were interested in an engagement session, and when I learned they lived north of Washington, D.C. I began to look for locations in and around the D.C. area that we could have the engagement session at. While searching online, I discovered the Manassas National Battlefield Park. I was a bit of a history / civil war buff in college and had visited other battlefields (Gettysburg for example), so I knew that there would be plenty of naturalistic scenery to work with. Mark and Miranda agreed, the weather cooperated and you can see the results below!
The Testimonial: “We are thrilled! We could not be happier, the pictures are incredible. We have looked through them so many times already, and are going to have such a tough time picking ones to print! It was so great meeting you, and we are looking forward, more than ever, to having you photograph our wedding day!” – Mark and Miranda

The Date: September 5, 2010
The Location: Toms Brook and Woodstock, Virginia
The Details: Steve and Shelley were married in a beautiful Lutheran church in Toms Brook, VA…but I will always remember their reception. It was held at the Fort Valley Nursery in Woodstock, VA and was such a unique venue for a reception that it made for some fantastic photos. It was a photographer’s dream in regards to lighting as it was held during the “golden hour” when outdoor lighting is perfect for photography. The flowers, plants and other objects found at a nursery really got my creative juices flowing too. Congrats to Steve and Shelley for holding a wonderful celebration!
The Testimonial: “All we can say is WOW, you’re absolutely amazing! We love them all, you captured every moment and then some. I cannot tell you how many compliments we received from our guests about how wonderful you were. Thank you so much…I am going to spread your name like wild fire…lol. Each picture captured exactly how happy we are!” – Steve and Shelley Mauck

The Date: September 4, 2010
The Location: Capon Bridge, West Virginia
The Details: Dale and Amanda (view their engagement session) met when they were little kids and grew up very close together. As most stories go, one thing led to another, and they wound up falling in love and getting married in the beautiful country town of Capon Bridge, WV. Despite being held in a quiet country setting, this wedding was anything but quiet as it featured motorcycles, fast cars, great music and lots of fun…including the bride, groom and wedding party walking down the isle celebrating to C+C Music Factory’s “Everybody Dance Now”! Congratulations to Dale and Amanda!
The Testimonial: “I think you did an execellent job of telling our story through photos. I have heard others say that is what they want, but this is the first time I feel anyone has truly done that. You caught moments that were once in lifetime which is just so special to us. I am so glad we used you for our wedding. You really went above and beyond. I plan on using you for everything in life from here on out because I know you will deliver more than I could expect. Thank you, thank you, thank you!” – Amanda Barry Mowery

The Location: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
The Details: This year’s family vacation to Myrtle Beach included a trip to the Krispy Kreme Doughnut shop to see fresh donuts being made, a visit to Ripley’s Aquarium and of course, plenty of time on the beach enjoying the sun and surf! Of course I brought my camera along as well…

The Date: August, 29, 2010
The Location: North Myrtle Beach, SC
The Details: I talk to my brother Josh on a daily basis. So when he sent me an instant message asking me to do him a favor I thought nothing of it. Then when he told me he wanted me to photograph him proposing to his long-time girlfriend Katy at North Myrtle Beach, I jumped up out of my office chair! We spent the next two weeks planning the whole scenario. We would all be vacationing down there together, so the day we arrived, I asked both of them if they wanted to come for a walk on the beach with me while I took photographs of the sunrise (something we have done together before). The next morning, the weather was perfect – crystal clear and the sun and sky were full of bright oranges and yellows. We made our way down the beach, and I ran ahead pretending to show interest in a flock of seagulls. At that moment, my brother got down on one knee and popped the question, as I turned to capture their life-changing moment. My parents were vacationing with us as well, so I made sure I captured their reactions on camera as well once Josh and Katy told them the exciting news

The Date: August 21, 2010
The Location: Manassas, VA
The Details: Tim and Lisa (see their engagement session) are devout Roman Catholics, and their wedding was one of the first to be held in the new All Saints Catholic Church in Manassas, VA. The wedding ceremony included a traditional Catholic mass performed by three priests, two of whom are very close friends to the family. I really enjoyed photographing the wedding ceremony and mass. Afterwards we had the opportunity to take a few quick group photos in the church before heading to the reception location at the Regency at Dominion Valley for more wedding party photographs outside (on the golf course!). The weather for weddings has been great this year, and on this day it was no different…cool temperatures and plenty of soft sunlight. Congratulations to Tim and Lisa!
