Photo Session Date: May 30, 2010
Photo Session Location: Winchester, Virginia
Photo Session Details: This past weekend my wife and I threw a little family birthday party for my two-year old daughter. Naturally there was cake (home-made by my wife of course), decorations, food (hedgehog watermelon!) and presents. However, the “hit” of the party was my brother’s dog, Butters. Visiting from north of Baltimore, my brother and his girlfriend brought their dog along and my children absolutely loved her. I know that any day now I will probably begin to hear the words “Daddy I want a dog”. Maybe in 10 years….

Photo Session Date: May 20, 2010
Photo Session Location: White Fence Bed and Breakfast, Stanley, Virginia
Photo Session Details: Paul and Natasha contacted me to photograph their wedding vow renewal ceremony in Stanley, Virginia. They were first married 5 years ago, but according to them, their first wedding was less than memorable in which everything that could go wrong did (their photographer even ran out of film…which I cannot comprehend). For their vow renewal ceremony, they decided to have a small, intimate ceremony attended by only them, the officiant and myself for photography purposes. I think Natasha’s words best help describe the theme of their ceremony:
The theme is celtic, dragons, medieval, a little french (fleur de lys) mixed with modern day formal wear . We are Laird and Lady of Lochaber Scotland. We have purchased land there and have a title. In fact, we’re going to make it official for our wedding day (signing of the papers) even though we bought the land last year. My husband is Scottish and we are honoring his heritage. He will be wearing a fly plaid tartan and I will be pinned with his clan’s tartan sash and take my oath.

Walking out to my office the other night, I looked up into the sky and saw this beautiful cloud formation. It was getting late and the sun had set, but its orange glow was still evident on these very large, puffy clouds. There was a sever thunderstorm watch in the area, so I can only assume that had something to do with this peculiar and gorgeous formation.

Photo Session Date: May 9, 2010
Photo Session Location: Old Town Winchester, VA
Photo Session Details: This was the second engagement shoot of they year I held in Old Town Winchester. I met Jennifer and Ryan outside of Brewbaker’s Restaurant on an early Sunday morning. It was a bit chilly and breezy for May, but sunny…which was great because we had the whole area to ourselves. Jenn and Ryan actually met for the first time on a date at Brewbakers, so we started the session there and worked our way in and around the various nooks and crannies of Old Town. Jenn even brought along a lovely flower that she had picked from her garden that morning to include in some of the photographs…which made me very happy because I love when a couple enjoys the engagement session as much as I do!

Photo Session Date: May 12, 2010
Photo Session Location: A Virginia Community College, Middletown, VA
Photo Session Details: While photographing an employee appreciation luncheon, I had the opportunity to take hear a musical performance by two talented college students featuring a guitar and harmonica. As I have run into both of these students before through my photography assignments at the College, I decided to take a few shots of them to use in various promotional products, on their Facebook pages and such. They were very appreciative and I was happy to give them something back for their musical performance work they have done for the College.

Photo Session Date: April 23 – 24, 2010
Photo Session Location: Capon Springs and Farms, WV
Photo Session Details: Alana and Ayron contacted me last year to photograph their wedding in Capon Springs, WV. After meeting with them during their engagement photo session, they decided to hire two photographers – one to photograph the wedding ceremony reception, and myself to handle photographing all of the fun-filled activities that were planned for guests leading up to the ceremony. I spent all of Friday afternoon/evening/night and all of Saturday traveling around Capon Springs to photograph all of the activities. The scheduled panned out as follows:

Photo Session Date: April 18, 2010
Photo Session Location: The Edith J. Carrier Arboretum at James Madison University (JMU), Harrisonburg, VA
Photo Session Details: Frank is an alumnus of JMU and Katie will graduate from there this fall. JMU even served as the location of their actual engagement, where Frank proposed to Katie, so naturally they wanted to hold the engagement photo session somewhere on the university’s campus. Katie suggested to me the Edith J. Carrier Arboretum, which is described on its web site as follows:
With its forested slopes, lowland swale, pond and forested savanna, the arboretum provides a unique habitat for a wide diversity of flora and fauna.
We held the shoot during the evening around 6 p.m. and it could not of been a more perfect setting. With the sun setting during the “golden hour” and giving me some very nice soft lighting to work with, the beauty of the Arboretum was very inspiring. Katie and Frank will be getting married this summer and we will return to the Arboretum for some post-wedding photographs!

Photo Session Date: April 10, 2010
Photo Session Location: Stephens City and Winchester, Virginia
Photo Session Details: This was my first wedding of April 2010 and one could not have asked for more perfect weather – sunny and low 70s. There was not a cloud in the sky as I arrived to the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Shenandoah Valley where the wedding was being held. To get things started, I held a portrait session for the bridal party outside in a lovely flower garden to the back of the church, and afterwards the girls retreated to their getting-ready room as the groom party arrived in the limo (I took the groom party photos in the same flower garden location). The groom party was very fun-loving and had me laughing through most of the photographs. As for the wedding ceremony, it was perfect and the church was very well lit thanks to the many ceiling windows and warm spring sunshine. Afterwards, I I took the wedding party photographs in the brightly-lit church and then we traveled to the reception location in Winchester, VA where everyone had a great time enjoying warm food, dancing and congratulating the newly-married couple . . . Karen and Michael!
Testimonial: “Aaron is professional and courteous. He is very easy to get a hold of and flexible with changes. He quickly provided proofs and gave us a CD of all pictures included in contracted price. He is family and pet friendly (I am having him do a family project with pets). Even though he was one of the most reasonably priced photographers in our area, I didn’t feel that anything was sacrificed. He did a great job and I would recommend him to friends and family.” – Karen
