My name is Aaron Riddle and I am a professional photographer residing in Winchester, Virginia. I specialize in wedding photography, portrait photography and special event photography needs.
As a wedding photographer my style is unobtrusive, friendly photojournalism. I capture the spontaneous smiles, people living in the moment and details of your day as they naturally unfold. Your job is to relax and enjoy your wedding! My job is to document it for you to relive forever.

Photo Session Date: December 2, 2009
Photo Session Location: Community College, Middletown, Virginia
Photo Session Details: The blue collar world of construction is much different than the office environment I work in most of the day. Visiting this construction site for a new building at a local community college, I was presented with the bitter chill of the rainy cold weather, dirt, mud, and dust as my working conditions…and I loved it. There is something refreshing about getting out of the office into the field to photograph people doing work much different than mine. My photographer’s eye was excited by the colorful, dangerous glow of the welding machine, the vibrant sparks from the saws cutting metal, the geometry of the steel beams…beautiful, artistic scenes that these gentlemen create every day. All the workers were very friendly and I appreciate them taking their time to let me capture them through photography. Oh…and I got to wear a hard hat too!

E is for Eggs - Eggs…a breakfast staple at the Riddle house on the weekends usually served with home fries, toast, juice and coffee. At the suggestion of taking some photographs of eggs for the letter “E”, my wife immediately began whipping up a fried egg and boiling some hard boiled eggs. I wish I would have had some eggs to photograph that my pet chickens use to lay (brown and blue-green shells), but I had to settle for the traditional white shelled variety.

Photo Session Date: Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2009
Photo Session Location: Linthicum, MD
Photo Session Details: Every Thanksgiving Day for the past 20+ years, my family has been shooting off model rockets between turkey dinner and the serving of pumpkin pie. What started out as a one-time novelty using a build-your-own rocket kit (courtesy of Estes) has turned into a yearly hollowed tradition featuring unique and crazy rockets constructed by my father, brothers and cousins. The rockets are launched safely from a baseball field and have resulted in some very humorous stories from year’s past. I will let the photographs tell the rest of the story from this year’s launch.

Photo Session Date: November 20, 2009
Photo Session Location: Middletown, VA
Photo Session Details: A local community college recently held a talent show for its students. While I was unable to attend the actual show, I did have the opportunity to take a few photographs of the winners giving repeat performances for the College’s employees as part of a pre-Thanksgiving luncheon. The performers included a hula hoop dancer, a singer/guitarist, a comedic performance by a pretend married couple and a singer/pianist who played a self-composed piece.

D is for Dog - Kira Belle Prancer. Devil Dog. Stinkibus. All playful names I have given to this black speed demon of a canine. A highly energetic breed of dog (Schipperke), Kira once lived with us until my parents took her in (long story short she didn’t do too well around little crawling babies and was highly over protective). Since that time, Kira has become a great dog around children. She now enjoys living it up near the Chesapeake Bay running through fields and swimming in the Magothy River. She is one of the most hyper dogs you will ever meet, but also one of the most loyal and protective.

Photo Session Date: November 21, 2009
Photo Session Location: Winchester, VA
Photo Session Details: My wife breeds hedgehogs. Once people find that out it usually becomes the primary topic of conversation. Apparently hedgehogs are in high demand in the Northern Virginia area, which I am completely fine with as it translates to sales for my wife’s business. Her waiting list is 80 some people long, so if you are interested you might have quite a wait. My wife tends to make good use of my profession, having me design her logo, develop her Web site and now take photographs of her featuring one of her hedgies (a term the breeders use…I didn’t spontaneously make that up). I’m always happy to help her out as she makes me fantastic home cooked meals, deals with my schedule as a photographer and tolerates my ranting designer personality.

C is for Church- I live very close to a small country church. The church is so small and inconspicuous that it is barely noticeable when driving by on the road. Living near this church for four years, this was the first time I took time to photograph it. The resulting photos portray the church as desolate, isolated and abandoned…an interesting stark contrast to Sunday mornings when it comes alive with cheerful parishioners celebrating the Sabbath.
