My name is Aaron Riddle and I am a professional photographer residing in Winchester, Virginia. I specialize in wedding photography, portrait photography and special event photography needs.
As a wedding photographer my style is unobtrusive, friendly photojournalism. I capture the spontaneous smiles, people living in the moment and details of your day as they naturally unfold. Your job is to relax and enjoy your wedding! My job is to document it for you to relive forever.

Photo Shoot Location: Winchester, Virginia
Photo Shoot Date: May 25, 2009
Photo Shoot Details: I workout daily and for the longest time part of my fitness routine included a 5 mile run along the back country roads of northern Winchester, Virginia every morning. While some mornings were less enjoyable than others (running in below freezing temperatures, surrounded by darkness with a flashlight to guide my way), there were many mornings that made the effort worth while. During the late spring and early summer months, there were a few sunrises I witnessed that were simply breathtaking.

Photo Shoot Date: 2009
Photo Shoot Details: These are two photographs I took of my daughters this year in black and white. I believe some photographs lend themselves to black and white given the mood and emotion of the moment. The “asleep” photograph above is a personal favorite as it captures that truly peaceful moment of “sleeping like a baby”.

Photo Shoot Location: Middletown and Warrenton, Virginia
Photo Shoot Date: May 14 and 15, 2009
Photo Shoot Details: For the past few years, my full-time employer (a Virginia community college) has contracted an external vendor to handle the photo shoot of the two Commencement ceremonies held at both College campuses. It was decided late last year that the College would entrust me to handle all photographic duties for this year’s graduation ceremonies. I must be honest that I was anxious and nervous regarding this wonderful opportunity as these events are the pinnacle of the College’s academic year. With over 2,500 guests attending both ceremonies, the pressure was on me this year to capture the joy, emotion and experience of the event.

Photo Shoot Location: Saxton, Pennsylvania
Photo Shoot Date: May 2009
Photo Shoot Details: My family traveled to Saxton, PA to visit my in-laws to celebrate Mother’s Day. One evening I was outside enjoying the nice weather with my wife and our youngest child (almost one at the time). I had my camera out and was taking some photographs, when I noticed my wife playing with our baby on the lawn. My wife looked over at me and our baby gave a nice big spontaneous smile (she has learned to do that when Daddy has the camera). The result was this portrait showing my wife as the wonderful loving mother that she is, enjoying every moment with her children. Every time I see this photograph I am reminded how lucky I am.

Sketch Name: Tribal Thorn Cross
Where and When: This sketch was done while riding in a SUV with some co-workers to an event in Richmond (I was attending to take photographs).
Thoughts While Sketching: I am not sure why, but the tribal designs you see on many, many tattoos have always appealed to me. While sketching this I was wondering if anyone would want this design on their body permanently. I have also never designed a tattoo as part of a paid job (I have done a few for family and friends free of charge), so it would be sort of an honor if someone chose to have my artwork on their body permanently.

For those of you who know graphic designers, I am sure you have heard many times about the importance of a sketchbook. A sketchbook allows a designer to let their ideas transition from their mind by flowing freely onto paper. It is the initial step that every professional graphic designer takes before they delve into a logo or illustration project. While sketching can serve as a starting point for projects, it is also a relaxing activity in that your mind (well…my mind anyway) seems to think clearer and allow new ideas to transpire
